Mittagong RSL hosted the 2024 Kyle Anderson Memorial Trophy events for Dart Players Australia (DPA) over July 13 and 14 as part of the 2024 Winmau DPA Pro Tour. It also represented the last chance for players to make a stage Kyle knew so well, the PDC World Series of Darts stage. There were two Pro Tour events on the Saturday and the third round of the 20s and unders. The Trophy winner would be determined across the three Pro Tour events over the weekend. The winners on Saturday included Tim Pusey, Jeremy Fagg (Pro Tour) and Anthony Fairall.
Saturday afternoon’s DPA Pro Tour event 11 saw Joe Comito defeat Brenton Lloyd 6-1, Jeremy Fagg move past Rob Modra 6-2, James Bailey eliminate Dave Hanel 6-3 and Brandon Weening progress past Tremaine Gallagher 6-1 in the quarter finals.
Fagg then got past Comito in a tight semi-final affair 6-4. Weening secured a 6-0 win over Bailey to also make the Final.
The second Final of the day saw the match move to three sets all after Fagg came from 3-1 down. Fagg then held throw with a 145 check out to take the lead. Weening was then able to hold throw in the next leg. Fagg did the same in the next leg to move one away from the event win. He won the next leg against the throw to take the Final 6-4.
Saturday’s opening event’s quarter finals saw Tim Pusey (6-2) eliminate fellow West Australian Joe Comito. Also victorious was Jeremy Fagg (in an eliminating leg) over Rob Modra, GG Mathers, 6-4 over the returning Andrew Eagers and Harley Kemp, 6-2 over fellow Victorian Brandon Weening.
Kemp then eliminated Mathers in the semi final (6-4) whilst Pusey put an end to Fagg’s campaign with a 6-3 win.
The Final saw Kemp broken in the opening leg before winning the second leg against the Pusey throw. The next four legs stayed on throw. A 12 dart effort from Pusey in the 7th leg and a hold of throw in the 8th gave Pusey a 5-3 lead. When Kemp was unable to convert 20 Pusey checked out 74 for the break of throw and the 6-3 win in the Final.
In event 3 of the DPA 20 and unders Grand Prix Anthony Fairall (4-0 over Brad Tisdell) and Jake Webster (4-3 over Darren Lane) made the final. The final saw Fairall defeat Webster by 5 legs to 2
