Mathers takes Event 3, Lloyd the Russell Stewart Classic

Brenton Lloyd took out the Russell Stewart classic by winning the most prizemoney across the weekend. On Sunday he made another final and that gave him enough earnings over the weekend to take out the whole thing. It also meant he is the first to qualify for the World Series of Darts event in Wollongong this year.

In the Final GG Mathers defeated Lloyd by three sets to one. Mathers won the first set 3-2 and the second 3-1. Lloyd then won the third set 3-1. Mathers won a third straight set against the throw. He won the final set 3-0. He would be the third different event winner across the weekend.

Mathers had defeated Jeremy Fagg in the semi finals. Mathers won the first set 3-0. Fagg then won the second set 3-0. Mathers then won the next two sets to win 3-1.

Lloyd fell to Harley Kemp in the first set of their semi final. He then won the next three sets. He won eight consecutive legs along the way to win 3-1.

Mathers defeated Dave Marland 2-0 in the quarter finals, Lloyd over Brody Klinge, Fagg over Brandon Weening and Kemp over Mal Cuming. All these matches finished 2-1.

Lloyd returns to the World Series in 2024. He did really well on it last year. He will be aiming to get a win this year.
