Lloyd and Weening win on Day One

The Dartplayers Australia season began on Saturday with two events. Brenton Lloyd won the first event. Brandon Weening was the winner of the second. Both won on the tour in 2023 and now in 2024.

Mal Cuming, Brenton Lloyd, Harley Kemp and Brandon Weening all won their quarterfinals in event one. Lloyd and Kemp were comfortable in there wins. Cuming and Weening took longer to make it through.

The semi final between Kemp and Weening saw Kemp take a 1-0 lead, before Weening moved 2-1 ahead. Kemp drew level once more and did not go behind again. Kemp won 6 legs to 5.

Cuming won the first leg in his semi final with Lloyd. Lloyd then won three legs in a row. He would not fall behind for the rest of the match. Cuming moved level after eight legs but missed his chance in leg nine. Lloyd took the last two legs and won the match 6-4.

In the Final it was three legs all after six. Kemp then won two legs to lead 5-3. Lloyd held throw in 15 darts. Kemp did not check out 52 in the next leg and Lloyd took the leg. Lloyd then held throw to win the Final 6-5.

Brandon Weening won his second quarter of the day. Dave Marland, Robert Modra and Joe Comito also won at this stage.

Modra won the first three legs of his semi final. Marland then got back within a leg twice. Modra won the last two legs to win 6-3.

Weening won the first two legs in the other semi final. Comito won the third and fifth leg. Weening won the last three legs to win 6-2.

Weening won the first leg of the Final. Modra then won three consecutive legs. Weening took three legs of his own to lead 4-3. Modra held throw to move the match to 4-4. Weening won the next two legs to win the Final 6-4.
