At the beginning of July the fourth qualifier for the NSW Darts Masters is to be played out at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club. Whilst big names like Darren Penhall, Mal Cuming and Dave Marland have already qualified there are plenty of names out there to make this night very competitive.
Names that have tried to qualify previously include previous WSD players including the likes of David Platt, GG Mathers, Bailey Marsh, Joe Comito, Rhys Mathewson, Harley Kemp and Tic Bridge. A former PDC World Championship player in Mitchell Clegg has also previously tried to make the stage this year. All of those players are still able to take up the fourth position by winning Friday night.
Add to that the likes of Craig Scarfe and Dave Hanel, both playing very well this season in NSW competitions and consistent performers over the DPA season like Brenton Lloyd, as well as locals desperate to be on their local Wollongong stage as WSD competitors (like Tony Welland, Daniel Pearson, Clayton Collins and Terrance Insley amongst others.)
Whilst the youth world championships positions have been tied up by Bailey Marsh and Tyrel Coppini the July weekend of Winmau Pro Tour events could see Darren Penhall officially secure a position on the Ally Pally stage at the PDC World Championships come December. Penhall’s dominance on Saturday and Sunday of the previous set events was only broken on the Sunday night but all the other players will be able to avoid a repeat in July.
These Winmau Pro Tour 2023 events will be held on Friday the 7th to Sunday the 9th of July at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club and will be the last opportunity for locals to come along and see these players at a DPA event before the World Series of Darts event at WIN Entertainment Centre Wollongong on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th August 2023.
