Brendan Dolan, Daryl Gurney, Vincent van der Voort and Simon Whitlock were amongst the players to complete a European Tour qualification double on Monday, as Tour Card Holder Qualifiers for ET3-4 took place in Barnsley.
Smith, Gurney and Whitlock headlined the list of 11 players to book their spots at the Interwetten International Darts Open (ET3) and the Interwetten German Darts Grand Prix (ET4).
The International Darts Open will take place in Riesa from March 31-April 2, while the Kulturhalle Zenith will play host to the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich from April 8-10.
European Champion Smith averaged 112 en route to qualification for ET3, before seeing off Arron Monk and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez in the ET4 Qualifier to cap off a perfect day of darts at the Barnsley Metrodome.
Whitlock came through a brace of last-leg deciders in the ET3 Qualifier before doubling up in convincing fashion in the ET4 event, whitewashing Karel Sedlacek and accounting for Ritchie Edhouse.
Northern Irish duo Gurney and Brendan Dolan are the only two players to have come through all four Tour Card Holder Qualifiers in 2023, with Gurney averaging 109 in the ET3 event to maintain his impressive form.
Top seed Andrew Gilding underlined his credentials to complete a qualification double alongside Callan Rydz and Alan Soutar, with three-time European Tour event winner Ian White also sealing his place in Riesa and Munich.
Mario Vandenbogaerde defeated Krzysztof Ratajski, Raymond van Barneveld and Kim Huybrechts to cap off a terrific double in Barnsley, with Matt Campbell and Lee Evans also qualifying for both ET3 & ET4.
Each qualifier produced 24 players for each event, with two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis and former Grand Slam winner Jose de Sousa headlining the stars to prevail in the ET3 Qualifier.
Lewis and De Sousa will be joined in Riesa by Welsh veteran Richie Burnett, who rolled back the years to overcome Stephen Bunting and Jurjen van der Velde in clinching his European Tour return.
Premier League star Chris Dobey and five-time World Champion Van Barneveld both came through the ET4 Qualifier later in the day, with Vincent van der Voort and Steve Beaton also advancing.
Two-time World Champion Gary Anderson was beaten by Andrew Gilding in the opening round of the ET4 Qualifier, as the Scot targeted a first European Tour appearance since 2016.
Ten-time TV title winner James Wade suffered early exits in both events, while Graham Hall landed a spectacular nine-darter against Ryan Meikle in the ET4 Qualifier, only to be denied in a last-leg thriller.
