This weekend sees the DPA Winmau Pro Tour head to Western Australia and the Kyle Anderson Memorial Trophy will be on the line. The location is the Italian Club Bunbury from Friday until Sunday.
Friday night will see Brandon Weening challenged for his current number one ranking as players line up to qualify for the one local Australian position going on the World Series of Darts stage in Auckland this year.
Saturday and Sunday then see Joe Comito and James Bailey try and maintain their position in the top two positions of the Order of Merit as a position in the PDC World Championships of Darts, with the number one ranked player at the end of the year gaining the opportunity to chase one million pounds as the winner of the Worlds concluding early next year. That race is close with names like Klinge, Porter, Coburn, Kemp, Mathers and Weening also in the top 8 chasing the two.
The three Saturday and Sunday events will also act as qualifiers for the World Series of Darts events in Wollongong. Currently the leader on that table is Brody Klinge, with Bailey not far behind and another WA local, in Koha Kokiri third. Darren Penhall, who made a triumphant return to the oche in Albury last time around, is also chasing a spot in Wollongong. There are only 12 points separating 3rd and 15th in the chase for those Wollongong spots.
The weekend will also be about commemorating the great Kyle Anderson. The Kyle Anderson trophy has seen the names of Darren Armstrong, Mal Cuming, Joe Comito and Jeremy Fagg etched on the trophy, and there will be many competing over the weekend to join that group.
Alongside the major tour the DPA challenge and Dart Technology Australia Women tours will also continue as will the race to be crowned the number one junior in the DPA.
Results can be followed on dartconnect all weekend.
