Winmau are delighted to join forces with Championship Darts Corporation, the organisation behind the Championship Darts Circuit – North America’s Professional Darts Tour.
As the biggest darts organisation in North America, the sponsorship deal will see both companies support the growth of darts as the very highest levels in the USA and Canada.
The CDC has had a huge success since it started back in 2015, after a dramatic impact which has seen the standard improve year after year.
The new partnership will see the Championship Darts Corporation’s Main Circuit, Junior Tour, Evolution tour and Major events played exclusively on the Blade 6 Dartboard.
The CDC and the PDC’s partnership have given opportunities to qualify for major events such as the World Championship, World Cup of Darts, and the Grand Slam.
Peter Citera spoke on the new deal saying, “This link offering North American players the chance to play in the World’s biggest tournaments has led to North American standards sky rocketing, with new top talent emerging every year”.
Winmau Marketing Director Simon Hall gave his reaction to the partnership, “We are always thrilled to work with any organisation that has tirelessly built and grown the sport of darts in any country, as we understand just how hard that can be on the ground, this latest agreement will see us combine the power of the PDC, CDC and Winmau under a joint strategy for the whole of the USA and the players there”.
The CDC continues to grow with its audience widening each year, as players continue to breakthrough with some going as far as earning a PDC Tour Card.
We are proud to have supported the careers of several North American stars including 2016 BDO World Finalist Jeff Smith and Captain America himself: Jim Widmayer.
The CDC Summer Series is also underway and is open to any interested player. Each event includes a $2000 event prize fund, and formats vary from a set-play event, a matchplay (win-by-two) and even a UK-Open Style re-draw event. Information and registration is available on the CDC’s website.
Top players from North America also featured at the second annual US Darts Masters and North American Championship in Madison Square Garden, where the fans were treated to quality of play and an atmosphere never before seen in America. Jeff Smith captured the North American Title and made a stunning run to the final in the US Darts Masters where he was overcome by the Champion, Michael Van Gerwen.
The CDC has helped to discover the best players from across Canada and USA, with Danny Baggish finishing top of the 2022 CDC Main Tour Order of Merit on 154pts, 2 clear of Canadian Jacob Taylor in 2nd.
Peter Citera also said on the organisation’s brand-new partnership with Winmau, “Having met with Winmau last year, it’s clear to see how passionate they are about every level of darts and growing the sport and, we are very excited to get this moving”.
Simon Hall also added, “Many North American players are starting to make names for themselves, and with this new partnership we hope to help more achieve similar successes, and to see what they can achieve playing darts.”
