Welsh star Connor Hopkins was making headlines once again as he averaged 100 in qualifying for the
Welsh Individual Finals later this year.
The was also success on the JDC tour for a couple of our growing talents. The duo of Riley ReesTucker and Hannah Meek were in action on the JDC Foundation Tour as the season closed out.
It was a positive weekend for the Rees-Tucker with two quarter-final runs in Coventry. Tour 17 saw
him achieve his first quarter-final run of the weekend, and go within a leg of the final four after a last
leg decider loss to Sean McKeon.
He would back that up with an 88 average in a run to the last 16 just hours later. McKeon would be
the thorn in his side once again on the Sunday, defeating him in a decider in tour 19 before making it
a third win in a row in the final event. Despite the defeats to the Irishman, two quarter-final runs
represent a positive weekend for RRT.
Meek would step up on the JDC tour by making a last 32 on the Sunday afternoon. Saturday bought
mixed returns for Meek as she was defeated by tour champion Jack Nankervis and then tour regular
Blake Walker.
Her best run came in tour 19 as she defeated Craig Murtagh and then Bert Croft to reach the last 32
before being defeated by David Birks.
Elsewhere, there was success for talented duo Connor Hopkins and Ryan Branley. The latter
collected the Blyth Wednesday Singles title, becoming the youngest ever player to take the honour.
Hopkins was victorious in national competition, qualifying for the Welsh Individual Championships
later in the season, winning both of his matches in whitewash fashion with averages on 98 and 100!
