Conan Whitehead won his first PDC title at Winmau Challenge Tour Event 14 in Milton Keynes on Sunday, defeating William Borland 5-2 in the final.
Former Lakeside quarter-finalist Whitehead took the £2,500 top prize as non-PDC Tour Card Holders returned to the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes for the fifth and final event of the weekend.
Whitehead began the day with victories over Jeroen Caron, Charlie Symons, David Ladley and Jarred Cole to reach the last 16.
There, he produced his best display of the day, averaging 97.86 in a 5-1 win over Dom Taylor.
Whitehead then overcame Australia’s Jeremy Fagg and fellow-former PDC Tour Card Holders Harry Ward and Borland to pick up his maiden title win.
The next weekend of 2023 Winmau Challenge Tour action will see Events 15-19 take place across August 11-13 at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes.
The top two players from the final 2023 Challenge Tour Order of Merit will secure a PDC Tour Card for 2024/25 and a place in the 2023/24 World Darts Championship.
Berry van Peer, a winner of three events across Friday and Saturday boasts a £6,800 lead at the top of the Order of Merit, ahead of his fellow countrymen Christian Kist and Chris Landman in second and third respectively.
