The temperature is not the only thing hot in the UK at the moment. Damon Heta has made massive progress in his game despite the pandemic and with the UK opening up this year and more events back on his players championship run has been phenomenal and the statistics are there to prove it.
This year in the players championships he has made:
• a semi final in event 2, (losing to Peter Wright),
• the final in event 3 (losing to Joe Cullen),
• the winner of event 4 (defeating Gary Anderson in the final),
• a semi final in event 10 (again losing to Wright),
• another semi final in event 12 (losing to Ryan Searle) in a tournament that saw three Australians in the quarter finals (The Heat joined by Simon Whitlock and GG Mathers),
• a semi final in event 14 (losing to Michael Smith),
• a quarter final in event 15 (losing to Ryan Joyce),
• a semi final in event 21 (losing to Brendon Dolan)
Statistics wise he is ranked first in the order of merit, with Michael Smith second, and Dirk van Duijvenbode third. He sits second behind Michael van Gerwen in the averages (his 98.79 so close to MVG’s 98.81), with Gary Anderson third on 98.03. He has thrown the most 180s in the tournament with 256 (second is Luke Humphries 26 behind with Dave Chisnall third on 207 maximums.) 100 plus check outs is another statistic The Heat leads the way in. He has 59 of them compared to second placed Peter Wright with 57 and third placed Luke Humphries on 48.
He is, of course, the reigning Brisbane Darts Masters winner and will be defending the Queensland crown in Townsville this year, plus be a part of the events in Wollongong and in Hamilton New Zealand, the country of his father’s birth. Whoever draw Damon will certainly be feeling The Heat!
