Betfred will be backing Macmillan Cancer Support through their charity activity at the 2022 Betfred World Matchplay and Betfred Women’s World Matchplay.
The summer’s annual showpiece event at the Winter Gardens sees nine days of top-class action take place, with this year’s visit to Blackpool being from July 16-24.
This year’s 32-player Betfred World Matchplay will be accompanied on Sunday July 24 by the inaugural Betfred Women’s World Matchplay as eight players compete for that title.
Title sponsor Betfred will continue their annual charity activity at the tournament by raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Betfred will donate £50 per 180 hit during the two events, and are also offering a £10,000 bonus should last year’s total of 301 180s in the Betfred World Matchplay be matched or beaten.
They will also be running the Betfred Nine-Dart Charity Challenge with the help of competing players, with a £1 per point donation offered for their total score from nine darts.
“I’m delighted to be able to support the Macmillan Cancer Support,” said Betfred boss Fred Done. “Like all the darts fans at the Winter Gardens or watching on Sky Sports I’ll be cheering all the 180s over the next week!”
Previous beneficiaries include Parkinson’s UK and The Stroke Association – with almost £100,000 being donated to the two charities across the past three years of the Betfred World Matchplay.
“Betfred’s charity activity throughout the Betfred World Matchplay is always a popular feature of the event and it’s great that they’ll backing of Macmillan Cancer Support in Blackpool this year,” said PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter.
“Our players are always supportive of the charity activity and the £50 per 180 donation gives even more for the packed crowds to cheer.
“With this year’s charity activity also including players from the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay and the top PDC players having produced outstanding darts so far in 2022, we’ll be hoping to see a huge total for Macmillan Cancer Support at the end of the events.”
